Walmer and Kingsdown GC Friday 28th July 23

One of the toughest courses on the St Stephen’s fixture list, Walmer and Kingsdown surrendered some surprisingly high scores on a breezy day in White Cliffs country.

After some controversy with score cards only a count-back could separate Carl Bolton (19HC) and Paul Sequenza (23HC) who both returned 44 points, Sequenza just taking the honours based on best last 3 holes. Alan Mountain (28HC) led the chasing pack in 3rd place with a steady 39 points.

Spot prizes were picked up by Pete Kenehan, Dave Gregory, John Knight and Alan Mountain (nearest the pins) and a 300 yard drive by Gareth Venables easily took the longest drive award. The Sweep-stake for picking the winner went to Bob McDougall and Kingsley Williams was the only 2s club birdie winner, both collecting a cash prize.

In the KO cup, Alix Mitchell beat last years finalist Mick Bevan 2 up, Paul Sequenza beat Pat Dawkins 5 and 4, Mick Bedford beat Kingsley Williams 2 and 1.

The wooden spoon went to Mick Jackson.
