Results

St Stephen’s Golf Society is a friendly social group playing golf every last Saturday of the month.

Matches played to handicap using the ‘Stableford’ system allowing players of all abilities to enjoy the competition.

Prizes for winner, second place, longest drive and nearest the pin on offer.

Membership is £10 per year and open to St Stephen’s club members and non-members over 16 years old.

Skipper Alex McBeth announces new award for 2016, the Captians Award will be given to the member winning most events during the year, in the event of a tie, most second, then third etc places will decide.

New skipper for 2016 season

The society would like to thank Alex McBeth for accepting the key role of skippering the society over the next 12 months. Alex has been a regular playing member for the past year and took over as vice skip for the day at Chelsfield Lakes in November. A keen golfer, Alex is a HETAS engineer by trade and lives in Chartham with his young family. Alex came top of a selection poll of members who had played 9 or more events in 2015.

After a 3 year break the society returned to The Ridge on a cold but still day for the last league and cup match of the season.

29th Oct, Chestfield Golf Club

It turned out to be a high scoring points total with Jason Robson winning on 39pts as well as reaching the cup final and claiming top position on the overall years points average. more

Marstons Society Golf competition
Sene Valley Golf Club is pleased to announce it is hosting the Cotton Golf Society Championships in the run up to this Christmas.
The date to put in to your diary is Friday 9th of December and involves teams of four playing a better ball competition. The cost per team is £99 and includes coffee & bacon baps on arrival, 18 holes of golf and a two course Christmas lunch, with prizes donated by Marstons Brewery. more. Next years fixtures
The fixtures sec is proposing to double up on some of the better quality, more local courses like Sene Valley, Canterbury, Chestfield next year. This may drive a better deal for the members and save driving time. Feedback has been strong this year about the M25 and travel times!!! - have your say contact the sec

Canterbury GC 27th Aug
Only 10 points separated the entire field at Scotland Hills as good weather and a competitive field not only looked to take advantage of the conditions but also to take top place on the leader board.

Lydd -23rd June
Midweek special for members @ £10pp (golf only). Several members requested a revisit to Lydd GC in the summer months. Lydd contacted secretary Nigel Stevenson with this 'twilight' offer; excellent value on this challenging course.

May 16: Ruxley
The day was won by new member Mike Barham (20) with a stunning 42 points followed closely by, and in the same group, Nigel Stevenson (22) with 39 points. Louis Dawber (24), another new member came in 3rd with a respectable 37 points. see full report

Ruxley course update
There's been some issues with flooding and unwanted visitors on the Ruxley course over the winter months. I've also received information from Ruxley GC members that the course is unfit.

I spoke to both manager and green keeper at Ruxley today (Thur 12th May) who both advised that apart from some 'scarring' on the 12th and 13th greens the course is in good condition. (sec)

Please note that breaky will be served at the Cray Valley GC club house which is about 200yds from the Orpington Golf Centre (Ruxley GC).

Match Report:
First visit to the beautiful West Malling 'Spitfire' course for the society, the winter greens made for a tricky round of golf with wet conditions and many water hazards. more

16 members attended the societies first full event at Princes. Played on a Friday the club took full advantage of the winter fees offer and enjoyed a beautiful spring day. more
