Match Report:
31 members turned out for the St Stephen's Golf Society August event at Canterbury's Scotland Hills. On average scores were lower than normal as the tight, well designed fairways and greens proved to be a tough test. Ex Canterbury member Darren 'Doogle' Holman (13) was the only member to crack the 40 points (Stableford) with a commanding 41, but the star of the day coming second with 37pts was Rob Gutsell (12) who also took the longest drive and nearest the pin prizes.

27th June: Broome Park

Match Report:
Broome Park Society Day saw a significant increase in average scores after the handicaps were adjusted earlier this month with the first 3 coming in under handicap. On a glorious day at Broome Park 27 members enjoyed a mid season extravaganza of great weather and golf. With only 11 Stableford points seperating the top 20 player and 17 members scoring 30 or more, it went to the last few holes.

New member Demetrios 'Lou' Loizou enjoyed his first outing despite a disappointing 19 points (after a long lay off) saying "I had a great day. Andy (skip) and Ady (treas) welcomed me and introduced me to our four ball group and few others. On the whole it was a very enjoyable day except for my golf!".

Royston Gough and Karl Robson finished in the top three again as the league competition starts to show early contenders for the Society Shield. Winner Royston also picked up nearest the pin and runner up Rob Gutsell bagged the longest drive.

30th May: Boughton

Match Report:
Boughton Golf Course lived up to its reputation for being one of Kent's top course on a beautiful sunny day with over half the 29 members competing scoring 30 or more [Stableford] points. Top quality fairways and consistent greens assisted golfers who managed to avoid the punishing rough as the course is prepared for the annual championship weekend.

Running up to the last few holes 8 members where in contention for the winners cup but on count back Weald of Kent winner Karl Robson (16) took first position with 38 points. Will Scull (15) continued his consistent run of form with another top three finish, coming in on 38 points, losing out on count back. New member Danny Omar (13) joined the winners podium with a belligerent 37 points which included a massive 300 yard drive to take the longest drive prize on the 18th. Nearest the pin and a very close hole-in-one went to Graham 'Spike' Morgan (14).

25th April: Chestfield

Match Report:
First visit for the society to Chestfield GC, 38 members attending on a beautiful sunny Kent spring day. With no rain for nearly a month greens and fairways were fast accounting for some low scores as members found themselves with difficult lies and savage rough. A sea breeze also punished wayward drives so it was no surprise to see 'canny' Scott John McNeil won the day with a very well managed round of 36 Stableford points. Carlo Valente (14) and Danny Wrench (18) battled out 2nd and 3rd positions finishing 35pts apiece, new member Carlo taking 2nd on count back.

Longest drive also went to Carlo Valente with old hand Steve Girdwood narrowly missing a hole in one to take the nearest the pin award.

28th March: Lydd

Match Report:
25 members attended the second event of the year at what many members consider to be the toughest course in the calendar. Lydd lived up to it's reputation with rain and strong wind that was guaranteed to keep the scores low. On an open course with many water and sand hazards anyone scoring in the upper 20's was going to be in contention.

Top of the score board was Royston Gough (14hc) with a gritty 28pts, and Mark 'Buck' Burns close behind (23hc) on 27pts, just pipping Will Scull (15hc) on count back 27pts.

Royston Gough also claimed the longest drive with Steve Hughs (21pts) taking the closest to the pin award.

28th February: Weald of Kent

Match Report:
36 members attended the first full match of the season after the disappointing cancellation the previous month. Very wet and windy conditions at The Weald of Kent golf course predicted low scores but new member Karl Robinson (16) tamed the bad weather with a match winning 38pts.

Runners up position was secured after a count back by Howard Turbit (12) finishing par 36pts along with meteoric new boy Trishan Dixit who has gone from 28hc to 18hc in 2 matches. Nigel Stevenson and Howard Turbitt collected the 2 nearest the pin awards and Antony 'Spanner' Back claimed longest drive.
