A first for SSGS with Gary Miller Gas Services sponsoring a wonderful day’s golf at Ashford Golf Club in Kent. Fuelled with an excellent full English, 26 intrepid members and 2 guests took on the hard and fast fairways and greens.

Ian Neary (20HC) made it 2 wins for the season with an emphatic 38 points, followed by new member Bob Simmonds (23 HC) 36 points on countback just nudging Ivor Castle (15HC) into 3rd place.

Spot prize for the longest drive, a monster 300+ yarder went to Paul Sequenza, the 4 nearest the pins were won by Bob McDougall (2), Rhys Batty and Kevin Mullins.

2s Club winner with £28.00 cash prize: Charlie Orpin, Phil Balance picked the winner for the £28 Sweepstake prize.

The wooden spoon was hotly contested with over half the attendees scoring less than 30 points. But it was a dubious countback that found the recently injured Nigel Stevenson winning the coveted prize.
