Leeds Castle GC 29th Sept (breakfast at The Bow Window cafe)

Winner Roy Coveney (L) with skipper Bob McDougall

After a superb breakfast at The Bow Window cafe in Lenham, this was our first visit to a beautiful Leeds Castle golf course and we were not disappointed. A tight and heavily wooded 9 holes course played as 2 rounds, scores were surprisingly low considering the benign weather conditions.

Leading the troops home and first time winner, Roy Coveney (20hc) with a very low winning score of 33 points, followed by another first on the leader board Rhys Hywel-Batty (18hc) 31 points and a return to the top 3 for Kingsley Williams (13hc) on 28 points taking 3rd place.

Spot prizes were won by: Alan Mountain and Bob McDougall (nearest the pins) and the diminutive Kev Mullins crushing it with a 300yd longest drive.

The 2s club was a rollover but Roy Coveney picked up the sweepstake betting on himself to win.

In the cup, it was all square after 18 so Capt. Bob McDougall and Mick Bedford went for the sudden death option with McDougall winning the dual.

The wooden spoon went to Mark Blundell
