It was all to play for at a cold and damp Cobtree Manor GC with the 2024 league most points and best average (6) contended by 4 members plus the final of the KO cup. There was a high ball loss with leaf litter and deep rough colluding in a tough round of golf.
On the day, new member Charlie Orpin (20HC) held his nerve to put together a not too shabby 34 points for a maiden first place followed by another new member Simon Holmes (28HC) on 32 points on count-back nudging 2025 skipper elect Ian Horsham (16HC) into thirds place.
Spot prizes went to Andy Ransley (longest drive) and Simon Fowler, Kev Mullins and John Knight collected the nearest the pins. Knight also share the 2s club roll-over with Nigel Stevenson and the sweepstake went to Ian Neary for picking the winner. The wooden spoon went to the returning Bob McDougal
The KO cup final was a very closely run match between Kev Mullins (25HC) and Paul Sequenza (16HC). After 9 holes Sequenza was 3 shots up playing match play Stableford but both players were struggling with the conditions.
By the 17th Mullins had clawed it back to all square and for the first time he took the lead and the cup on the 18th.
