A return to an old favourite did not disappoint and with 2 West Malling members guesting we managed to dodge the weather for a great days golf.
The challenging West Malling Spitfire course, wet conditions and slow greens made for some lower than average scores, so it was going to take an exceptional round to win the day.
Terry Porter (13HC) produced the round of the day taking first spot with an emphatic 39 points. Guest and West Malling member Mike Anscombe (16HC) improved on the back 9 to take 2nd on 35 points but it was a 3 way countback to decide 3rd place with skipper Ian Horsham’s (10HC) 33 points squeezing out Simon Fowler and Pat Dawkins.
No cup games as the semi finals loom but on course spot prizes were won by the returning Derek Bevan (longest drive) and nearest the pins (par 3s): Nigel Stevenson, Bob Simmonds, Tony Clark, Simon Fowler, Mike Anscombe and Mark Sidders.
Although not last but having not won the Wooden Spoon previously, Andy Mair took the honour.
Nigel Stevenson selected the winner for the Sweepstake cash pot.
