19 intrepid golfers made their way to Littlestone Warren Golf Course on a surprisingly dry and mainly sunny day with very little wind to find the course in good condition for February and after all the rain that has been in the region. Scoring was still quite tough due in the main to the fairly quick greens.
The day was won by first time winner Tony Clark with 37 points (HC 17), who narrowly pipped Mick Bevan into second place 36 points (HC 19), with Terry Porter in third place with 33 points (HC 13).
New member Ivor Castle won the longest drive and also a nearest the pin. Tony Clark also won two nearest the pins on his way to victory and the other nearest the pin winners were Rhys Batty and Simon Fowler.
2’s club was not won, with £38 rolling over to the next event and the winner was backed by Ian Horsham in the Sweepstake.
After his stunning victory at Westgate Simon Holmes (HC 18) went to the other end of the scale and took home the increasingly coveted wooden spoon, leaving the skipper very confused about his handicap for the next event at Lydd on 28th March !!!
Finally, the draw for the KO Cup was made in an FA Cup style draw, which seemed to go down well the members and will appear on the KO cup web page shortly. There was also a presentation for last years KO Cup winner Kev Mullins and a special birthday celebration mug for Rhys Batty
Looking forward to seeing you all next month at Lydd ‘The Beast’ GC
