19 members and guests made their way to Etchinghill GC. A cold and overcast start quickly gave way to some bright sunshine. Highlight of the start was Roy Coveney’s rifle club that propelled the ball 200 yards off the tee without lifting the club – truly amazing. The course was it fine fettle and definitely presenting a challenge to scoring, in particular on the greens.
First place went to the returning Ian Neary with 34 points (19HC), second home turf was Paul Sequenza 32 points (17HC) who pipped Tony Clark on countback into third place 32 points (20HC).
The wooden spoon was won by Leslie Marley.
Mick Bevan picked the winner and the 2’s club was a rollover. Nearest the pins Pete Kenehan picked up two of them with guest Tudor Morgan and Charlie Orpin also winning one each. The longest drive went to Charlie Orpin with an impressive 270 plus yards into a very narrow fairway.
There were a number of KO Cup games: Nigel Stevenson bt Phill Balance 2 and 1 (@ St. Augustine’s), Charlie Orpin bt Simon Fowler 4 and 3, Ian Horsham bt Tony Clark 1up, Paul Sequenza bt Pete Kenehan 3 and 2.
