Players were welcomed with a traditional pre-round meal of ham, egg, and chips before heading out for a shotgun start on a beautifully maintained course that offered a challenging yet enjoyable round.

The singles competition was closely contested. Rhys Batty (24 handicap) secured the win with 42 points, narrowly edging out Luis Dawber (20 h/c) with 41 points. Kevin Mullins (20 h/c) rounded out the top three with 37 points.

In the team event, Batty teamed up with Leslie Marley, David Atkinson and Micky Flockhart to claim first place. The winning team received Pro V1 golf balls and commemorative shields, generously donated by Treasured Friends Pet Crematorium and Ricky Woolley.

Nearest-the-pin accolades went to Andy Mair, Jim White, Gerry Benson, and Matty Lyne, while Mike Iddenden impressed with a booming 370-yard drive to take the longest drive title. At the other end of the leaderboard, Gareth Venables (11 h/c) took home the wooden spoon with 26 points.

The 2’s Club winnings were shared amongst four players, all of whom donated their prizes back to the MPS Society. Sweepstake winner Leslie Marley also contributed his winnings to the cause.

A major highlight of the day was the charity raffle, which featured a grand prize worth over £1,000, generously donated by Royal Cinque Ports Golf Club. The raffle alone raised more than £1,500, with the lucky winner, Den Turner Senior, delighted by his prize.

In total, the event raised over £4,500 for the MPS Society, which extended heartfelt thanks to the participating golfers, organisers, and the many local Kent golf clubs that donated vouchers. Special thanks were also given to the St Stephens Society, Broadstairs Society, the Lockdowners, and all guests for their generous contributions.

The event concluded with sincere appreciation for Faversham Golf Club’s outstanding hospitality and support of a truly worthy cause.
