Club secretary takes first honors in tight match at Westgate and Birchington GC


A well attended first event of 2018 at a sunny but breezy Westgate and Birchington GC (Sat 27th Jan), a tight course, Westgate always proves to be harder than it looks and with the added wind factor consistency was the mantra for the day.

Likewise the scores were very tight with Nigel Stevenson (22hc) carding 40 points to win, count back was required for: Alex McBeth (19hc) 2nd, Andy Oxberry (14hc) 3rd, Paul Sequenza (25hc) 4th and Royston Gough (16hc) 5th all scoring 38 points.

Spot prices were won my Kev Oxberry (AS), Mike Barham (LD) and Karl Robson (NP), 2’s club shared by Paul Sequenza and  Will Scull.

The club also welcomed 2 new members, Kain Price and Darren Rowe and celebrated Kevin Beasley’s 60th birthday with a card and gifted club polo shirt.

This was newly elected club skipper Karl Robson’s first match in charge, Karl was put forward and unanimously voted in at the November 17 AGM, one of his first match day changes was to re-introduce the longest drive spot prize. A Chestfield member, Karl brings continued stability and a bit of fun to the very well organised match day.
