Fri 28th March Lydd GC

After injury, illness and holidays 16 intrepid golfers made their way to the annual pilgrimage that is Lydd Golf Course! Upon arrival Lydd looked like it was going to give us the usual cold, windy and wet day. However after 3 or 4 holes of tame drizzle and a bit of wind the day suddenly brightened and the wind died down. However it didn’t stop the numerous water hazards from eating too many balls to count.

Winner Paul Sequenza (L) with skipper Ian Horsham

The winner of the day was Paul Sequenza (H/C 18) with a very solid 35 points, 1 point ahead of Gareth Venable (H/C 12) 34 points in second place, who beat Pat Dawkins (H/C 17) 34 points on count back.

Dave Sear with the coveted wooden spoon

This month’s winner of the much coveted 2025 wooden spoons went to Dave Sears, who had a colourful round to say the least!

Longest Drive went to Gareth Venables, closest 2nd shot to the pin: Les Marley, closest to the pins:Rhys Batty, Ian Horsham and Kevin Mullins

2’s club went to Ian Horsham who converted his closest to the pin as did the winners pot for backing the winner.

KO Cup
Two cup games were played on the day. Mick Bevan beat Terry Porter who unfortunately had to retire due to a back injury. Mick will now play John Knight in the next round. David Brown beat Ivor Castle 5 and 4 to set up an intriguing match up with this month’s wooden spoon Dave Sears in the next round.

Outstanding KO Cup 1st round matches (below) need to be played at Etchinghill.

If you are not going to be at the next event @ Etchinghill can you please make arrangements to play your opponent at a mutually suitable time and venue. This must be before the June event so that we can get the 2nd round games played at that event.
