Final round of the year with the season’s most points, best average and a cup final competitions to conclude plus the on the day spot prizes it was a busy days golf at Scotland Hills, Canterbury.
KO Cup
Skipper Steve Winder and Chairman Dave Gregory faced off in the cup final. After 4 rounds of the knockout process Dave and Steve played a thriller. At the halfway stage Steve was 4 up and looking comfortable in this Stapleford Match Play but the tenacious and experienced Dave Gregory took full advantage of his higher handicap and 2 shot holes to claw his way back level. A resilient skipper managed to go one up on the 16th and hold his game to win the clubs 3rd KO cup competition – congratulations to Steve, Dave; Kevin Mullens took the 3rd slot against Howard Turbitt.
Match day
Skipper elect Karl Robson (36 points) took the first prize winnings, a well deserved winner after a slow start this year. 2nd on the day was A Back (35 points) and 3rd Steve Winder (34 points). The three spot prizes were won by Mike Barham (nearest the pin 2nd), Andy Oxberry (nearest the pin 5th) and Karl Robson (nearest the pin approach 14th) and as it’s nearly Christmas and the skipper forgot the prizes, the winners won a mini Christmas cake each!
