Boughton GC November 18

Boughton GC society day marked the end of the Stableford season for the society competitions so a last opportunity for members to add to their total scores or improve on their 7 match best average.

There were also 2 cup matches played with all 4 competitors  represented by a committee member! –  the first out, losing semi-finalists between Alex McBeth (Treasurer) and Dave Gregory (Chairman) won by Alex McBeth followed by winning semi-finalist Nigel Stevenson (Secretary) and Andy Oxberry (Handicap sec) won by Nigel Stevenson.

The final between Nigel and Andy was very close with neither player taking more than one hole advantage (match play Stableford) right up to the 18th hole. Andy oxberry had a twenty foot putt to tie the hole and the match forcing sudden death but the ball fell just short allowing Nigel Stevenson a three foot tap in for the win (1-0).

In the main competition, the Boughton rain held off making playing conditions much easier, this reflected in the scores with skipper Karl Robson winning on 43 points, Paul Sequenza second with a very good 41 points and Mike Barham following up with an excellent 3 under 39 points.

Spot prizes were won by Royston Gough (longest drive), Nigel Stevenson (nearest the pin) and Kevin Oxberry (nearest the pin approach shot). The 2s club was shared between Steve Hughs and Karl Robson.

Several new members attended the event at an under development Boughton Golf Club.
