St Stephen’s Golf Society attend several events throughout the year supporting other society events, charities and golf club competitions. Over time, members have enjoyed a modicum of team and individual success.
Thursday 9th October 2025 will be remembered as a watershed moment for the society with an emphatic clean sweep at the annual South East Golf Society Championship, Canterbury Golf Club.
The society entered 4 x 4 ball teams that played in pairs against other Kent based societies.Total scores were calculated on team players 1st, 2nd and 4th Stableford scores.
Results
Third place: Team St Stephen’s “Cavalry”: Ian Neary (skipper, Dave Easthope, Will Payne and Ashley Payne – 101 points.
Second place Team St Stephen’s “Not Sures”: Rhys Batty (skipper), Charlie Orpin, Gareth Venables, Den Turner – 102 points
Winners Team St Stephen’s “Possibles”: Kevin Mullins (skipper), Jimmy Pottle, Phil Ballance, Roy Coveney- 106 points.
Charlie Orpin and Jimmy Pottle also picked up the longest drive and nearest the pin on-course spot prizes
