After a five year absence St Stephen’s Golf Society returned to this tight and unpredictable seaside course. Cold, overcast and windy the normally high scoring here was always going to be tempered by the elements, added to that the immaculate greens were fast and pin positions tight.
Heavily bunkered the course slowly took its toll as the predicted 40 plus points winning score was reduced by the increasing wind on this short 4,418 yard, par 64 course.
Seasoned golfer Dave Gregory (28) used all his guile and experience to card a 39pt winning score followed in by equally experienced and high handicap members Alex McBeth (21) 37 points and Nigel Stevenson (21) 37 points, McBeth taking second on count back.
Antony back and Karl Robson also picked up the nearest the pin awards.
